Roosevelt Coffee
The little Irvine café off Jeffrey that quietly became our regular.

Every couple has a place that quietly becomes theirs. For us, it's Roosevelt Coffee, a small, independent café tucked into an office park in Irvine, just off Jeffrey near Cypress Village and the 5. It's the kind of spot you'd drive past if you didn't know better. We're very glad we know better.
Why we keep coming back
First, it's local, and it feels local. The baristas actually know us now, and we've gotten to know Jeff, the owner, who, in the most Roosevelt twist possible, also runs the Bikram yoga studio right next door. Coffee and hot yoga, one parking lot apart. Only in Irvine.
The space itself is calm and easy to settle into. On any given morning you'll see people with laptops open, notebooks out, plans being made. It has that rare balance of being welcoming and buzzy without ever feeling like it's rushing you out the door. We've done some of our best thinking here.

What we order
Our go-tos are simple: a vanilla latte for one of us, an iced vanilla latte for the other. That's the standing order. But if you're new, don't sleep on their seasonal drinks. The rotating menu is where Roosevelt really shows off, and we almost always end up talking each other into trying one.
And the drip coffee? Phenomenal. We say that with some authority, because for a stretch of our health and fitness journey, black coffee was the only way we took it, no milk, no sugar, nothing to hide behind. A lot of drip coffee does not survive that test. Roosevelt's does. When the beans are good enough to drink black and still look forward to it, that tells you everything.

The first of many
This is the start of something we've wanted to do for a while: write about the coffee shops we love. Roosevelt is our home base, but we're already dreaming about the rest: more of Orange County first, and eventually great little barista-run spots wherever we happen to land in the world. If you have a favorite, tell us. We'll bring our appetite and an empty notebook.
Until then, if you're anywhere near Jeffrey in Irvine, go find Roosevelt. Order the vanilla latte. Say hi to Jeff. Maybe book a yoga class while you're at it.
